The vaccination against HPV (human papilloma virus) recommended for children and adolescents offers highly effective protection against many forms of cancer caused by HPV, such as cervical cancer, mouth and throat tumors and tumors in the genital area. The Bavarian State Working Group on Vaccination (LAGI) and the Bavarian State Ministry of Health Bavarian State Ministry of Health, Care and Prevention (StMGP) Currently, only around half of girls and only one in four boys are fully vaccinated and thus optimally protected against HPV. The LAGI is therefore working together with the StMGP and many partners to improve HPV vaccination protection.

At its 44th meeting on October 29, the LAGI reaffirmed the general goal of sustainably increasing the acceptance of HPV vaccination in Bavaria and significantly reducing the burden of disease caused by HPV. The many vaccination stakeholders in the LAGI - such as the medical profession, pharmacists, health insurance companies and scientists - are compiling the actions and measures already achieved to improve HPV vaccination protection in Bavaria. Furthermore, the concerted public relations work of the LAGI, for example at the Bavarian Vaccination Weeks, jointly produced target group-specific HPV information materials as well as the various training courses and specialist publications for doctors and other vaccination stakeholders will be continued and expanded.

Prof. Dr. Weidner, President of the Bavarian State Office for Health and Food Safety (LGL), the headquarters of the LAGI office, emphasizes: "The LAGI and the StMGP are very keen to increase HPV vaccination coverage in Bavaria and thus prevent cancer caused by HPV as far as possible. Proven cooperation, the exchange of expertise and the use of synergies are at the heart of our LAGI strategy."

An important key to strengthening confidence in vaccination is also a transparent, valid database. Particularly noteworthy here is the data evaluation by the Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians in Bavaria, which is unique in Germany and already proves the high effectiveness of the HPV vaccination in relation to precancerous stages and genital warts at regional level.

As a member of the LAGI, the BZKF, together with the Bavarian State Working Group on Vaccination (LAGI) and the Bavarian State Ministry of Health, Care and Prevention (StMGP), has launched a targeted campaign to raise awareness of the HPV vaccination:
