Psycho-oncological counseling
In most cases, a cancer diagnosis is very stressful for patients and their relatives, causing anxiety and uncertainty. Suddenly life is turned upside down and social and financial worries can also be a problem for patients.
This is why they are generally entitled to psycho-oncological counseling, which is covered by health insurance.
The trained and experienced team at the BürgerTelefonKrebswill be happy to help you.

Second opinions
In the case of cancer, patients can obtain a second opinion either from an individual specialist or from an interdisciplinary tumor board. At the tumor board, several experts from different disciplines discuss the best course of treatment together. The recommendation of the tumor board is considered to be particularly comprehensive, as it brings together different points of view and current scientific standards. The costs are usually between 300 and 400 euros, reimbursement by the health insurance company is possible but not guaranteed and must be clarified individually - however, some tumor boards can also be used free of charge.
The BürgerTelefonKrebssupports cancer patients in obtaining a second opinion free of charge: It provides information on which medical documents are required (e.g. doctor's letters, first opinion, tumor conference minutes, findings) and works with the caller to develop the specific questions for the tumor board. The BürgerTelefonKrebsthen puts the caller in touch with a suitable tumor board to arrange an appointment. After the meeting, the recommendation is made by telephone and in writing.
