The establishment and permanent establishment of the basic and lighthouse structures is one of the first concrete goals in the course of the construction phase, which are to be achieved in the network of the Bavarian Centre for Cancer Research. The expansion of the lighthouse structures, which are only planned at individual locations, will be carried out gradually.

The sharing of these individual structures by all six participating sites strengthens the sustainable Bavarian-wide merger and leads to the benefit of the Bavarian population.The lighthouse structures are additionally established based on specific strengths of the sites and focus on special technologies and expertise. As a result, existing expertise is used, bundled and purposefully expanded. Unnecessary duplication is avoided.

The lighthouse structures are a prerequisite for complex further developments in the respective area and take over service functions for the entire center.
