Human papillomavirus (HPV)
HPV stands for human papillomavirus, a group of viruses that can infect the skin and mucous membranes.
Almost every person who is sexually active will be infected with human papillomaviruses (HPV) at some point in their lives. The viruses are among the most common causes of sexually transmitted diseases. They are mainly transmitted through vaginal and anal sex. However, the viruses can also be transmitted to the mouth and throat during oral sex. They enter the body via micro-injuries to the skin or via the mucous membranes. In rare cases, HP viruses can also be transmitted through smear infections.

HPV vaccination campaign of the BZKF
Help raise awareness of the importance of the HPV vaccination among your patients!
Together with the Bavarian State Working Group on Vaccination (LAGI) and the Bavarian State Ministry of Health, Care and Prevention (StMGP), the BZKF has launched a targeted campaign to raise awareness of the HPV vaccination. The focus is particularly on the fields of ear, nose and throat medicine, oral and maxillofacial surgery and dentistry. Under the motifs "Everyone goes to the dentist" and "Earaches are also common", we would like to win over dentists and ENT doctors as valuable partners in raising awareness.
